Essential Job Duties:

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Environmental Services Technician to join our exceptional Environmental Services team at NC State's Facilities Division. In this vital role, you will help maintain over 10 million square feet of campus space, ensuring a safe and inviting atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors. Key responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:
- Provide cleaning, sanitizing, and pest control services across 10 million square feet of campus space
- Utilize standard cleaning assignments to sanitize designated areas within buildings
- Report discrepancies and respond to emergencies and inclement weather
- Use standard housekeeping equipment for tasks including vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, disinfecting, and replenishing supplies
- Remove recycling from centralized indoor recycling sites
- Periodically strip and refinish floors, as well as shampoo and extract carpets
- Perform periodic pressure washing of entrances, exterior walls, and windows
- Conduct seasonalClean and sanitize assigned areas using standard housekeeping equipment and procedures.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, and restocking supplies.
- Remove recycling and waste from centralized collection sites.
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or discrepancies to supervisors.
- Support emergency and inclement weather response, including snow and ice removal.
- Periodically strip and refinish floors, shampoo and extract carpets, and pressure wash entrances, walls, and windows.
- Participate in team cleaning and special projects during academic breaks or when areas are accessible.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality cleaning practices across assigned spaces.
- Able to grasp, push, and pull cleaning equipment; reach overhead; and perform physical cleaning tasks like bending, squatting, lifting up to 60 lbs., and climbing ladders, safely and efficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Other Work/Responsibilities:
- Perform snow and ice removal within a team environment during inclement weather, in addition to coordinating with coworkers during group response to emergencies. Perform team cleaning tasks and projects during breaks and when space is accessible
- May be required to periodically strip and refinish floors, as well as shampoo and extract carpets. Periodic pressure washing of entrances, exterior walls, and windows may be required. Seasonal window washing may be required
- May be required to fill in for absenteeism outside of assigned area
Minimum Experience/Education:
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience performing housekeeping or custodial duties in a university, healthcare, or commercial setting.
- Attention to detail and ability to distinguish between colors for accurate cleaning and chemical use.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions and respond to feedback effectively.
