Essential Duties

Teaching all levels of graphic design course offerings, including teaching typography, illustration & web/interactive design.Secondary teaching responsibilities include instruction in foundation/other courses. Applicants will also mentor and advise students as well as are expected to be engaged in service activities for the department, college, and university.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have an M.F.A. in Graphic Design or an equivalent terminal degree in a related field with relevant professional experience. Prior university teaching in Graphic Design and a record of professional/creative practice (exhibitions and publications) are strongly desired.

Job Description Summary

The Department of Art and Design at Mississippi University for Women invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Graphic Design beginning in fall 2025. The successful candidate will join a department that offers a highly personalized learning environment in the fine arts. The selected candidate will also have a fundamental role in shaping the future of graphic design at MUW, preparing students for both the traditional print environment and the new demands of emerging digital technologies.

The position carries a teaching load of 3 studio courses per semester, with primary responsibilities including: developing and teaching all levels of graphic design course offerings, typography, illustration and web/interactive design. Secondary teaching responsibilities could include instruction in foundation and other areas of interest. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a sustained scholarly or creative profile, university and departmental service, and advising/mentoring students.

Candidates must have an M.F.A. in graphic design or an equivalent terminal degree in a related field with relevant professional experience. Prior university teaching in graphic design and a record of professional/creative practice (exhibitions and publications) are strongly desired.

5) A pdf with 20 examples of professional work, creative work, and /or research ( which may include a link to an online digital reel for animation or motion graphics)

6) A pdf with examples of prior teaching experience (student work) if possible.
