McKendree University, located in Lebanon, IL, invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor for the School of Education, Initial Licensure Program. This is an on-campus, full-time tenure track position and is eligible for a competitive compensation and benefits package.

The Assistant Professor will teach and work closely with students in our Paraprofessional program. Courses include, but not limited to, foundational, lesson planning, methodology and pedagogy, and special education. Courses are online and face-to-face.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a primary advisor to paraprofessional students, ensuring successful completion of program and ISBE requirements.
• Meet with current and prospective students as needed to provide guidance and support.
• Collaborate with the SOE Chair and Director of Teacher Education on programmatic processes, student concerns, and academic oversight.
• Build and maintain partnerships with schools, working closely with administrators to ensure appropriate field placements.
• Manage BrightSpace as the central hub for student communication, document collection, and coursework.
• Provide program orientation and foster a culture of communication and accountability among students.
• Write and oversee remediation plans for students with academic or dispositional concerns, ensuring progress and documentation.
• Maintain all ISBE-required paperwork and coordinate field placements in collaboration with the Director of Teacher Education.
• Support program and syllabus updates, transcript evaluations, and course advising processes.

Qualifications:

• Doctorate in Education or a related field (tenure-track eligibility requires doctorate at time of appointment).
• 5+ years experience in K-12 environment. Experience working with paraprofessional is preferred.
• Experience in teacher education, field supervision, and/or online education preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse learners and fostering inclusive learning environments.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

FLSA Category: Exempt

Salary Range: $43,260.00 - $55,000.00 / Annually

Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
