Subject Matter Experts—Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Western Governors University (WGU) is looking for subject matter experts in the field of clinical mental health counseling to participate in an Assessment & Curriculum Design projects for our Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Subject matter experts provide valuable real-world knowledge and experience to develop the courses we offer our students.
This is a part-time/project-based position, where you would work with WGU as an Independent Contractor. Must reside in the United States.
Tentative Dates: 1/6/2025 to 4/4/2025
Scope of Work: In collaboration with the project team:
- Participate in 1-2 one-hour meetings for 6 weeks. Be available for ad-hoc meetings for an additional 2 weeks.
- Collaborate with learning experience designer to prepare a course design document.
- Review competencies, evidence statements, and skills alignment with each competency.
- Provide guidance for the design of assessment of student learning.
- Identify topics for each module/competency.
- Provide suggestions and guidance on learning resources, including suggestions of nontextual learning items such as videos/infographics for complex topics.
- Consult on potential technology or tools as needed.
- Ensure CACREP standards align with materials, progression, assessments, and experiences.
Time Commitment:approximately 30 hours for 8 weeks
Compensation: $1800
General Description of Other Compensation and Benefits: This is an independent contractor position that is not eligible for other compensation and benefits
Subject Matter Expert Qualifications:
- Minimum of master’s degree in Counselor Education and Supervision (preferred doctoral degree).
- A minimum of 5 years as core faculty experience CACREP program. State counseling licensure.
- A minimum of 5 years as a core faculty in a CACREP accredited program.
- A working knowledge of CACREP standards. Expertise in online pedagogy specific to clinical training programs. Knowledge of counseling skill development.
- State counseling licensure (e.g., LPC, LPCC, LCPC)
- 2+ years of curriculum development, design and development
- Online teaching in a remote environment
