REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have earned doctoral degree in music; three years of collegiate teaching experience; evidence of successful teaching and conducting collegiate ensembles; evidence of successful recruitment, program building, and community engagement; and a commitment to engaging with K-12 schools and teachers. Through their teaching, performing, and service, the candidate must be able to contribute to the breadth and excellence of the academic community and will work to build relationships with other departments within the College and the University.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
An ideal candidate is someone who can demonstrate the following: expertise in effective vocal and choral pedagogical techniques; extensive knowledge of current trends in choral repertoire and performance; experience teaching graduate conducting and score study courses; success in service, area operations, and organization; a strong record of research and creative activity through national and international performances, professional affiliations, recordings, or publications; success teaching in K-12 schools; and a reputation of collegiality with faculty and students.

The Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts School of Music at the University of Oklahoma seeks applicants for the position of Director of Choral Activities - a full-time, tenure-track, benefits eligible, 9-month, at the rank of assistant or associate professor appointment to start on August 16, 2025. The Director of Choral Activities will be responsible for overseeing area operations; work to enhance the national prominence of the choral program; develop a long-term vision for the choral program appropriate to the goals and mission of a comprehensive research university; teach graduate conducting and related courses; serve as advisor to graduate choral conducting students, including supervising master's theses and doctoral documents; continue artistic development through professional activities both on and off campus; and participate in university and professional service
