Welding Training & Development Specialist

Essential Position Duties:

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify training needs and develop plans tailored to meet those needs
  • Determine effective learning solutions and process to address development needs
  • Develop learning and development programs, training materials and other important tools
  • Plan and direct welding training for new and current Associates
  • Support the facilitation of other manufacturing process training and courses delivered by the Training & Development team
  • Conduct evaluations of participants to ensure understanding of the subject matter and make recommendations on process improvements
  • Maintain proficiency related to programs in which you are responsible for
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements supported by a clear plan for implementation and accountability
  • Utilize the Learning Management System to promote and deliver content to Toyota’s learners
  • Collaborate and consult with subject matter experts to determine effective learning solutions and process to address development needs
  • Develop and manage project plans and timelines to ensure high quality outcomes with minimal supervision or guidance
  • Assist with preparation of annual training budget; maintaining records and reports of expenses
  • Stay current with L&D Industry trends and best practices to elevate learning offerings
  • Maintain records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Additional duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of learning and development, training or facilitation experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in organizational learning and development, training or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in a MIG welding environment preferred
  • Experience working in a TPS or lean manufacturing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of welding diagrams, symbols and ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and be innovative and creative
  • Strong communication, presentation and public speaking skills
  • Experience utilizing a Learning Management System (LMS) to organize training schedules, monitor attendance and engage with participants preferred
  • Ability to build positive relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to interpret and visualize data, and make recommendations to improve business processes based on analysis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Power Point, Word
  • Experience designing instructional materials, programs and learning solutions preferred
  • Must be a team-player who enjoys working in a collaborative work environment
