Summary of Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Electrical Instructor (EIC) to join our academic team in delivering high-quality instruction in Electrical Codes and Calculations. This role is ideal for an individual with a deep understanding of current electrical codes, industry best practices, and advanced calculation techniques, as well as a passion for teaching and mentoring students. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering academic excellence, supporting student success, and contributing to the development of future electrical professionals. Part-time Instructors perform instruction-related duties, and responsibilities in their respective areas of expertise at the College in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Colorado Community College System and Red Rocks Community College.

This posting will be used to fill multiple part-time Instructor vacancies. Finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online courses.

Instructors report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, communication and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Classes may be held days, evenings, and weekends.

**The pay for this position is $1,620.04 - $1,782.04 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System. **

Essential Responsibilities

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to work from campus (primarily our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and typically underrepresented groups.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom where appropriate.
  • Knowledge of computer applications. Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of instructional objectives and course development techniques.
  • Skills with managing, preparing, and delivering courses in the classroom and in the field.
  • Ability to give and receive oral and written instructions and procedures.
Required Education and Experience:
  • An associate degree from an accredited institution in a closely related field
  • Qualifies for, post-secondary CTE credential including 4000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Licenses and Certifications: Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician
  • Demonstrated experience applying electrical code requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with electrical code calculations including, but not limited to: lighting, motor, feeder and service loads; box and conductor fill; conductor sizing and OCPD calculations; voltage drop; and neutral loads.
  • An associate or higher degree in mathematics
  • One semester full-time (or equivalent part-time) teaching experience

  • Constantly uses a computer and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports classroom and office equipment and supplies weighing up to 10 lbs.
