Director of Student Accessibility Services
The Director is responsible for the administration and oversight of Student Accessibility Services, ensuring the effective implementation of accommodations and services for students with disabilities under the mandates of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA) of 2008. In collaboration with the Dean of Student Support and Engagement and Dean of Students, this position develops and implements policies, manages departmental budgets, and supervises the administration of testing accommodations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the daily workflow of direct reports
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations and feedback
- Sets yearly goals and initiatives for direct reports
- Manages time off requests for staff
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures that ensure student access to educational programs.
- Manage student disability records in accordance with FERPA regulations.
- Ensure the timely intake, evaluation and interpretation of diagnostic documentation to determine eligibility for disability related accommodation requests.
- Review the records of students with documented disabilities, chronic medical conditions and temporary disabling injuries to develop accommodation plans designed to support students' needs.
- Ensure that accommodation letters for all registered students are distributed to all relevant parties in a timely manner.
- Oversee Testing Services; including supervision of staff to ensure all accommodated tests are managed and proctored appropriately.
- Provide leadership for the campus community regarding design and implementation of accessibility and disability services through programming, training, and service-learning opportunities.
- Consult and serve as a resource for relevant parties (faculty, staff, families, etc.) regarding the needs of students with disabilities.
- Collect data and generate reports assessing the outcome of services provided.
- Support the efforts of student accessibility-related clubs and organizations
- Performs other job-related duties in area of responsibility as assigned
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the vocational, psychosocial, academic, and physical impact of various disabilities.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Sections 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and other relevant legal decisions.
- Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues on a multidisciplinary staff team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and students.
- Management and budgetary skills.
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or another human service field.
- At least 5 years of experience working with college students with disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, ADHD).
- Competent using Microsoft Office software (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Demonstrated technical acumen in working with information technology systems
- Adaptability and willingness to learn
- Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or another human service field
- At least 3 years of experience working with college students with disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, ADHD).

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasionally lifting 25 lbs or less
- Typically standing or walking
- May work weekends
- May be required to be on-call
