Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide in-person
and telehealth counseling services using culturally informed and culturally
relevant practices to undergraduate and graduate students, including
assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy treatment. - Respond to student
crisis situations and provided suicide assessment as needed. - Establish rapport
quickly and communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty. - Develop appropriate
individual treatment plans for students. - Provide outreach and
well-being programming (workshops, support groups, etc.) as requested by the
Director of Student Wellness. - Work collaboratively as
part of a multidisciplinary team with Campus Health's Counseling &
Psych Services - Maintain appropriate
documentation in an electronic record system consistent with ethical
guidelines, state statutes, and internal policies. - Use information
technology to support and improve integrated wellness care. - Additional duties as
assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Required:
- Excellent at
assisting students with identifying their needs, setting goals, crisis
management, and providing referrals as needed. - Ability to
understand and respond to various needs and priorities within the University. - Must be able to
collaborate effectively with others. - Strong
organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks. - Self-awareness of
how one's own identities and life experiences impact their counseling
strategies and interactions with students. - Proficiency in
addressing intersectional issues of culture, gender identity, sexual
orientation, and other aspects of identity within the context of psychotherapy
with emerging adults. - Knowledge and
sensitivity to racial trauma and a commitment to anti-racism. - Ability to
effectively work with a diverse population on a broad range of
clinical needs. - A commitment to
continued learning in the areas of cultural humility, equity, and
inclusion. - Ability to address
college mental health needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree or
higher from an accredited institution in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and
Family Counseling or other counseling-related field, in compliance with the AZ
Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. - Licensed (LMSW,
LCSW, LAC, LPC, LAMFT, LMFT) and in good standing. - If licensed at the
Associate level, ability to attain full independent licensure within 24 months
of hire. - If independently
licensed in another state, ability to attain Arizona independent licensure
within 6 months of hire. - Two years of
experience providing counseling services. - Five years of
related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Independently Licensed (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in the State of Arizona, in good standing.
- Prior clinical experience in a multidisciplinary clinic setting.
- English/Spanish bilingual.
- Work experience providing psychotherapy to college students.
- Experience training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and related short-term modalities.
- Experience in clinical work with trauma, anxiety, depression, risk/crisis assessment and management.
- Experience with various technological tools including Zoom, MS Teams, email, spreadsheets, online scheduling, etc.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.
