The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OU HSC) is one of the nation's few academic health centers with all health-related colleges - Allied Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and the Graduate College. OU HSC serves approximately 4,000 students in more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs on campuses in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. We are currently building world-class institutes for the treatment of diabetes and cancer. The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City has an opening for a full-time Training Coordinator for The Division of Comparative Medicine. The successful candidate will responsible for developing, coordinating and providing training for animal care staff and others who may be exposed to laboratory animals.

Duties:

  • Coordinates training of new hires for smooth transition into the department. Provide initial training on University training requirements, SOPs, Policies, equipment usage, and daily tasks.

  • Coordinates the departmental training program. Communicates with staff regarding departmental updates.

  • Answers questions via phone, email and in person regarding department SOP's Policies, and Practices.

  • Provides training and assistance to department staff both in-person and virtual training sessions including scheduling.

  • Coordinate departmental annual health screening, TB testing, respirator fit testing, and vaccinations for staff.

  • Creates task orders and invoices.

  • Reviews, updates, and corrects organizational data for Comparative Medicine.

  • Assists in the preparation of content and format for courses and conferences.

  • Updates website, including information on training opportunities, as needed.

  • Tracks data and activities.

  • Reviews training attendance submissions.

  • Uploads data from various sources.

  • Completes performance reports and other reporting as requested.

  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned to successfully fulfill the functions of the position


Job Requirements

*

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:

  • 6 months of experience in early childhood, elementary, or professional programs.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 54 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff

Certifications: None

Departmental Preferences:

  • 5 years experience in laboratory animal science
  • American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) Certification as a Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT)

    • Standing for prolonged periods.

    • Reaching, stooping, bending, walking, repetitive movements.
