Position Highlights

The College of Engineering has an exciting opportunity for an Outreach Coordinator to work with the ENGAGED program.

This position will assist with and support the outreach efforts of the ENGAGED program in the College of Engineering and the Center for Quantum Networks in the Wyant College of Optical Sciences and Engineering.

The Outreach Coordinator will help with coordinating school field trips to visit the University of Arizona campus and serve as a point of contact for organizing visits with schools in the community, particularly focusing on under-resourced K-12 schools. Additionally, the Outreach Coordinator will assist with recruiting students for the ENGAGED summer bridge program, Engineering Blast Off, and support the management of the student experience (including student staff members) in collaboration with the New Start program.

This position is eligible to work a hybrid work week with a flexible schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities

Blast Off Summer Bridge:

  • Support the recruitment and implementation of the Blast Off Summer Bridge program.
  • Provide information about the program at schools and community events and assist students in deciding if the program is the right fit for them.
  • Assist with training and leading student staff who help with implementing the program.

Community Based Outreach:

  • Assist with coordinating school field trips to the University campus and with EMPOWER student outreach to schools and community organizations serving youth.
  • Help to organize Community resource fairs to showcase engineering pathways available to K-12 students through hands-on activities co-developed by faculty and the ENGAGED team.

EMPOWER Program:

  • Support the management of the EMPOWER (Engineering Mentors Promoting Opportunities, Wellness, Education, and Respect) student leaders.
  • Assist with guiding EMPOWER student leaders in participating in school field trips and visits and help them to understand how to lead various demonstrations and activities.

Organizing and Reporting:

  • Organize dissemination and extension materials and support the ENGAGED Director in processing and reporting on the outcomes of outreach activities.
  • Answer general questions as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Skill in English composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effective with high school students, teachers, and parents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • One year of relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, social sciences or closely related field of study.
  • Prior experience or working knowledge of common barriers limiting access to higher education for underrepresented student populations.
  • Experience with prioritizing multiple projects and achieving desired results and deadlines.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
