Major/Essential Functions
Advising and Support:
- Works directly with the program director and the program coordinator on project planning and implementation.
- Assist students in understanding institutional resources.
- Conduct one-on-one advising sessions to assess self-efficacy towards degree completion.
- Develop personalized work force integration or advancement plans that align with students' interests and career aspirations.
- Guide students to identify tutoring or other resources to improve study habits and grades
- Monitor students' academic performance and provide strategies for improvement, when necessary, beyond what is already provided within each school.
- Connect students with campus resources, including tutoring, counseling, and career services.
- Provide resource information or referrals on academic skills, time management, and study strategies.
- Supports the Title V Program Coordinator in facilitating mentor/mentee activities
- Identify at-risk students and develop intervention strategies to enhance retention.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student engagement and success initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of advising sessions and student progress.
- Collects and reports data related to student performance and retention to inform advising practices.
- Stay current with academic advising best practices and trends in higher education.
- Participate in training sessions and professional organizations related to academic advising.
Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a large school with diverse student populations.
- Proficient in using academic advising software and student information systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
