Position Highlights

The Business Intelligence Specialist, Senior is the subject matter expert in reporting data from College of Medicine-Tucson's systems including UAccess Systems and Analytics. This role uses knowledge around business processes at the College to create dashboards and reports.

This position will play crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the business intelligence dashboards and reports for the College. The incumbent will work closely with other teams to support all UAccess systems, and must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly visible environment with a sense of urgency.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify
    business intelligence, reporting and data analysis needs at the College of
    Medicine-Tucson with the objective of turning data into critical
    information and knowledge.
  • Support
    the Business Intelligence Team with a goal of establishing a comprehensive
    data support infrastructure by being a knowledgeable analyst in various
    data areas like student, research, finance, space, etc.
  • Build
    cross-functional relationships with business units to ensure long-term
    partnership success. This includes working independently to gather
    requirements, facilitating meetings, summarizing issues, working with
    project plans with minimal intervention, and delivering informative,
    well-organized deliverables to stakeholders.
  • Identify
    data patterns and trends, and provide insights to enhance reporting
    capability, which also includes data cleaning and ensuring data integrity.
  • Maintain
    detailed knowledge of UAccess Systems and UAccess Analytics to support
    department-level and College-level users, as appropriate. Use this
    knowledge to create reports and dashboards that are beneficial to the
    College of Medicine-Tucson.
  • Create
    and maintain documentation of processes, designs, and implementations.
  • Work
    closely with the team in developing and maintaining a formal description
    of the data and data structures, including: data definitions, data models,
    data flow diagrams, and business process mapping.

  • Skilled at readily manipulating large data sets to produce actionable information and visual analytics.
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement and critical issues with ease and possesses a passion for data quality.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt exiting knowledge to tackle new challenges.
  • Possesses good understanding in the areas of database and data warehouse design.
  • Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems.
  • Strong analytic skills and attention to detail.
  • A strong customer focus that is apparent in problem solving.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with University of Arizona and/or College of Medicine business processes.
  • Experience with UAccess systems and Analytics.
  • Experience with organizations undergoing rapid growth and change.
  • Experience working with business systems such as Confluence, project management tools and Issue Tracking systems.
  • FERPA and/or HIPAA experience.
