Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Supports the planning, design, and documentation of architectural signage on campus. Works closely with a cross-functional team. Focus on creating clear, intuitive way-finding solutions to enhance user navigation. The Junior Environmental Graphic Designer will leverage their expertise to create effective wayfinding solutions that help users navigate complex spaces with ease and clarity. Supports project management across multiple projects and collaborates closely with in-house construction project management staff on environmental graphics for both non-capital and capital projects, ensuring that all deliverables are high quality and completed on time.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Works collaboratively with project managers, the design team, and university stakeholders to ensure designs align with PDC standards and guidelines.
2. Conducts site evaluations, including surveying existing conditions and taking field measurements.
3. Develops architectural floor plans and signage message schedules to determine optimal signage placement.
4. Supports the maintenance of graphic design standards and guidelines for the university, promoting consistency across various spaces and locations.
5. Assists in creating digital prototypes and mockups for presenting design concepts to clients and university stakeholders, gathering feedback and approval. Manages project budgets and provides cost estimates for proposals, materials, and production.
6. Oversees the installation of diverse two- and three-dimensional signs that provide identification, direction, information, interpretation, and aesthetic enhancement across the campus.
7. Reviews construction drawings from in-house teams and external consultants to ensure alignment with project plans and effective use of design elements.
8. Performs additional related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, industrial design, interior design, architecture or relevant work experience in a related design discipline.
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Two (2) years of environmental graphics-related experience.

An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Proposed Salary
The budgeted salary range is $52,900 to $60,000. Offers are based on relevant experience.

ABILITIES
Able to select appropriate materials and finishes for the graphics that align with the project's aesthetic, durability, and maintenance requirements
Ability to read architectural plans and details
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one-time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Experienced in the production of message schedules, interior /exterior signage, and campus wayfinding plans
In-depth knowledge of visual communication, typography, color theory, and fundamental design principles
Strong grasp of material selection, scale, lighting, and construction techniques for environmental graphics
Knowledge of wayfinding principles and human-centric design
Knowledge of sustainable design practices and materials
Knowledge of ADA and building code requirements for environmental graphics
SKILLS
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other 3D modeling (AutoCAD, Revit) and rendering tools.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts and ideas.
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
