Job Description:

The Business Management department at Farmingdale State College invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Strategic Management and Sustainability at the Assistant Professor level. Excellent communications and collaboration skills are required. Candidates should be able to teach courses in Strategic Management, Sustainability, and management electives. The selected candidate may be expected to teach day and evening classes.

All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching (12 contact hours per semester), research and scholarly activity, and service. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty resulting in peer-reviewed publications and presentation, both of which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College. The service component of the workload includes student advisement as well as active participation on departmental, school and college-wide committees. The faculty member may be expected to teach in multiple formats including hybrid, online and traditional face-to-face classes. The college also offers courses at an off-campus extended site in Eastern LI, and individuals hired into this position may be scheduled to teach courses at this location.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Doctorate (PhD or DBA) in Strategic Management or a closely related field from an accredited university with the ability to be classified as a Scholarly Academic under the Business Management department's faculty qualifications guidelines. ABD with a dissertation defense scheduled prior to August 31, 2025, will be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• College teaching experience.
• Expertise and ability to teach the capstone course in Strategic Management and electives in Management.
• Ability to develop and teach courses for our proposed Minor in sustainable business.

Additional Information:

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

• For the first 10 working days, beginning Tuesday, November 19, 2024, and ending Monday, December 2, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
• CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATION: Open Until Filled with review of applications to begin on January 15, 2025.
• SALARY: $90,000 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $94,000 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
• ANTICIPATED START DATE: Fall semester 2025
