Position Highlights
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Arizona is searching for up to four Global Professors of Statistics and Data Science. The successful candidate will be expected to relocate to Tucson for training and course development in the Fall semester of 2025, and to relocate to Beijing in the Spring semester of 2026. These positions carry no expectation of research.
UArizona has entered into an agreement with the Capital University of Economics and Business (CUEB) in Beijing to offer a dual degree in Statistics and Data Science. Foundational courses will be delivered by CUEB faculty, and advanced courses will be delivered by UArizona faculty at CUEB, leading to two Bachelor of Science degrees.
Founded in 1956, CUEB is a highly ranked Chinese University specializing in finance, business, and economics. Its campus is located between the Southwest 3rd and 4th ring roads in the Jijiamiao area of the Fengtai district of Beijing. The University of Arizona, located in Tucson, is the flagship campus of the state university system and is known for its strengths in the physical sciences and its interdisciplinary programs.

Duties & Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be expected to relocate to Tucson for training and course development in the Fall semester of 2025, and to relocate to Beijing in the Spring semester of 2026.
- Global Professors will help develop courses for the program,
teach three to four courses per semester, and advise students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Desire to learn Mandarin and engage with Chinese culture
Minimum Qualifications
- A Master's degree or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Two years of teaching experience
- Experience in advanced topics in Statistics, such as statistical computing, regression analysis, statistical learning, probability theory, and statistical theory
- Fluency in English (native-speaker level) sufficient to teach courses at both campuses
- Ability to meet visa and entry requirements at the host campus and to comply with policies of both universities
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in engaging, motivating, and inspiring students
- Higher priority will be given to applicants who have background in a specialized area of Statistics, e.g., Bayesian statistics, nonparametric statistics, data visualization, time series, survey sampling, or natural language processing
- Experience teaching abroad
- Experience in academic administration
