PositionSummary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer/Vice President of Administration, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for administering personnel policies, state and federal regulatory compliance, employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation and salary benchmarking, and the insurance and retirement benefit plans of the University. This is a full-time position with occasional overtime, as required.
Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
At least five years of human resource management experience required.
Preferred: Master's degree
Professional HR certification or HR graduate program, a plus
Compensation
This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position with a competitive wage and comprehensive benefits package; including generous paid holiday and leave time. Tuition programs available.

Responsibilities

- Collaborates with senior leadership to implement the University’s goals and strategies related to personnel, recruiting, realignment, benefits and compensation.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends, best practices, regulatory changes, in employment law and applies this knowledge to communicate and implement changes in policy, practice, and resources to senior leadership and University employees. Includes, but is not limited to ADA, FMLA, COBRA, FLSA, Worker’s Compensation, Unemployment, Diversity and Equity.
- Administers and oversees position benchmarking, compensation studies and staffing patterns.
- Collaborates with leadership on disciplinary matters; dispute resolution and grievance investigations.
- Provides institutional data on employee demographics, turnover, recruitment data, including an annual human resources report and organizational chart.
- Prepares Federal and State reports, including but not limited to CUPA salary study, IPEDS HR Survey, BLS report.
- Develops and implements departmental budget and processes vendor payments for benefit programs.
- Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
- Coordinates annual employee evaluation process.
- Oversees processes for collecting and maintaining the proper information for personnel and payroll files, utilizing current technologies and systems.
- Oversees payroll processing and payroll system development.
- Member of negotiating team representing the college in union contract negotiation (AFSME).
- Oversees audit of 403(b) plan.
- Files and monitors workers' compensation and unemployment claims.
- Generates COBRA notices.
- Maintains benefit enrollments and annual open enrollment processes in multiple vendor systems.
- Engages in professional development through professional memberships, subscriptions, and continuing education.
