The School of Business and Technology at Seton Hill University invites qualified candidates to apply for an Assistant Professor of Economics faculty position with a specialty in Finance to begin August 2025. The applicant must hold a graduate degree in Economics/Finance and any one of the professional certifications (CFP, CFS, CGFM, CIIA, CPWA, CFA, CIA, etc) would be considered a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in FinTech and/or related field technology. A doctorate in economics or finance would be preferred.

We are seeking a candidate passionate about teaching that prepares students for future careers in economics and finance. Teaching assignments include in-class and online courses in economics and finance at the graduate (MBA) and undergraduate economics and finance levels. The candidate will be expected to participate in professional and program development, advising, outcomes assessment, scholarship, and service activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teaching a full range of finance and economics courses
  • Preparing and maintaining programs for continuous professional development and enhancement of industry relations, including current and potential internship sites.
  • Assessing and improving student learning.
  • Contributing to curriculum planning and development.
  • Managing and /or assisting with special projects, recruitment initiatives, and campus events including, but not limited to orientation programs, open houses, and community service activities.
  • Active participation in university committees.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • A Masters in Economics/Finance with a focus on finance.
  • A background of professional experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully work and advance in an industry environment.
  • Digital literacy in FinTech, software, and internet applications related to the field of specialization.
  • A demonstrated ability to disseminate information to a diverse group of students in an engaging, experiential manner.
  • A record of success in a team environment.

Preferred:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with:
  • PhD in a related field.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience, including the use of computer applications for classroom instruction.
