Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
Wellstar College's Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education is dedicated to preparing highly qualified and influential public health, health science, health and physical education, and coaching professionals. The Department promotes healthy living, physical fitness, and sport skill acquisition in the KSU academic community and the community at large. The Department offers a BS degree in Health & Physical Activity Leadership (with concentrations in P12 Health and Physical Education Teaching; Coaching; and Youth Activities Leadership), Integrated Health Science, Public Health Education, and a minor in Public Health and a certificate in Coaching. We have 20 full-time faculty and about 900 students across all three majors.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for full-time, non-tenure track faculty positions as Lecturer of Health Promotion and Physical Education with a preferred start date of August 2025. These are nine-month contracted positions. These positions are for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
A commitment to excellence in teaching and service to the university, department and/or discipline is expected of all non-tenure track faculty.
The Integrated Health Science Program is explicitly interdisciplinary, drawing from a range of disciplines related to a variety of health fields, including public health. This degree provides students with a flexible, non-clinical curriculum designed to provide students a broad overview of health and healthcare, preparing them for both direct entrance into health-related careers or for graduate training in health professions. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about working with interdisciplinary colleagues to prepare tomorrow's health professionals with exemplary education.
Responsibilities include the following, at a minimum:
- Teaching courses in chronic and infectious disease; health determinants; careers in healthcare; technology and healthcare; healthcare systems and policy; health research methods; healthcare administration; behavioral health; and/or public health.
- Service to Department/ College/ University/ professional community is expected, particularly service involving program development, curriculum updates and/or internship coordination.
Required Qualifications
- An earned master's or terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in health science, allied health, mental or behavioral health, epidemiology, public health, or health services administration or a related discipline is required.
- An earned master's or terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent in any discipline with at least 18 hours of graduate credit in health science, allied health, mental or behavioral health, epidemiology. public health, or health services administration.
- Prior undergraduate teaching experience
- Experience mentoring students
- Professional certification including, but not limited to CHES, MCHES, CPH
