POSITION: Visiting Assistant Professor of Health Sciences
The Department of Health Science at Stetson University invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position beginning January 2025. Primary teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in health science, including Anatomy and Physiology with labs. The position is a full-time, 9- month, non-tenure-track appointment that spans January 2025-May 2027 (3 semesters), with the possibility of further renewal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in a health-related field with demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduates. Candidates should have a strong commitment to innovative pedagogy and mentoring undergraduates. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or interest in engaging students from diverse backgrounds.
THE DEPARTMENT:
The successful applicant's appointment will be in the Department of Health Sciences. Currently, there are six full-time faculty members whose expertise spans several diverse health-related fields (e.g., immunology/virology, gerontology, nutrition, exercise physiology). We are deeply committed to effective teaching and to working with students in a mentoring capacity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The annual load is equivalent to four courses in the Fall and four courses in the Spring semester. The successful candidate will have the option for one of these courses to be an approved student-centered immersive experience (equivalent to one course) as part of the University's experiential, contemporary, and integrative learning initiative - Hatter Ready. Primary teaching responsibilities include Anatomy and
Physiology with labs and/or other courses in the candidate's area of specialization. Specialized courses may include new or existing upper-division health sciences courses and/or General Education courses. THE COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES (CAS):
Stetson's College of Arts and Sciences (http://www.stetson.edu/portal/artsci/) is the largest and most diverse of the University's colleges and schools; it includes the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, education, and creative arts. With nineteen academic departments and nine interdisciplinary programs, the
College is the liberal arts core of the University. A great strength of the College is its faculty of approximately 140 full-time teacher-scholars. The College offers 31 undergraduate majors and 34 undergraduate minors; seven graduate degrees are offered in Education, Counselor Education, and Creative
