Responsibilities:

Reports directly to the Chair/Program Director of the fully accredited MS/PA Program. The Adjunct Faculty, Physician Assistant supports the Department of Physician Assistant Studies in fulfillment of its mission, purpose, and goals through the provision of assigned didactic lectures. In addition, the Adjunct Faculty provides curricular specific expertise and is actively engaged in relevant department initiatives. During their employment the Adjunct Faculty member provides professional leadership and support, and serves as an educator, role model, mentor and facilitator to all students enrolled in their class/classes. The primary focus will be on facilitating student learning associated with prescribed course and program learning outcomes. Creating an educational environment which fosters innovation, responsiveness, and accountability. Actively and substantively participating in assessment of student learning activities at the course and program level to maximize the potential for students to learn what is necessary to meet prescribed outcomes. Vigorously upholds a culture of academic integrity while providing rigorous didactic instruction and assessment.

INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fulfills assigned teaching load.
  • Effectively uses the Learning Management System (LMS) to supplement instruction (i.e., active learning, adaptive learning and/or flipping the classroom).
  • Participates in and contributes substantively to course and program level assessment activities via a continuous improvement plan as set forth by the Department.
  • Regularly contributes to improvement or upgrading of course materials and syllabi in collaboration with the Program Chair/Director or Academic Coordinator/Associate Chair.
  • Ensures that all safety protocols, where applicable, and procedures are followed.
  • Consistently employs a variety of teaching methodologies to instruct students, always with intent to facilitate observable evidence of student fulfillment of prescribed learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching and the teaching/learning process and for individual students.
  • Upon request schedules approved office hours to meet with students.
  • Follows established University protocols for providing timely feedback and/or academic advising.

Demonstrates advanced teaching skills as demonstrated by:

  • Student evaluations
  • Peer evaluations (if assigned)
  • Self-evaluation
  • Administrative reviews
  • Evidence of documented student achievement of course student learning outcomes

GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Records daily class attendance and grades as required, completes, and submits assignments in a timely manner, and grades tests, quizzes, lab assignments (if required) promptly, returning constructive feedback to students in a reasonable time period. Engages in systematic collection of student's work for outcomes assessment purposes.
  • Maintains and uses approved course syllabi template and offers edits and distribution of the syllabi in a timely manner.
  • Submits accurate grade-in-progress report(s) as required during the semester in accordance with the posted syllabus to the Chair/Program.
  • Posts accurate points and final course grades earned throughout the semester in accordance with the posted syllabus and proscribed final grade submission deadlines.
  • Assists with program activities to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accrediting bodies, and NYIT policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and recommends improvements and enhancements to the consistency and quality of assigned courses, course/program development, and curriculum.
  • Participates in student success activities such as engaging in student academic counseling and/or establishing a point of contact for internal resource/access for student issues.
  • Assures students are provided instructional support services within the subject area taught to maintain the highest level of student achievement while safeguarding the integrity of the educational process.


Qualifications:

  • Master's or doctorate degree.
  • If applicable, certification(s) in area(s) of specialization required.
  • Must provide a statement outlining their educational methodology consistent with teaching assignments including but not limited to education theory and practice, or current concepts relative to specific subjects they will be teaching, or current clinical practice experience, or distance education techniques and delivery.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a NYS License to practice as a physician assistant in addition to NCCPA board certification.
  • Must meet and maintain the qualifications and standards set forth by ARC-PA and Middle States for the area of expertise and/or expectations of faculty members as set forth in regulatory documents.
  • Must maintain any professional certifications deemed necessary to meet the requirements of the teaching role.

In compliance with local legislation as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, the annual base salary range for this position is listed. New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer. Adjunct Faculty offered hourly rate is contingent on applicable rank.



Minimum Salary

USD $97.00/Hr.

Maximum Salary

USD $106.00/Hr.
