POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor of Accounting

REPORTS TO: Social Service & Business Division Chair

POSITION SUMMARY: Eureka College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting August 2025. While the position is open with respect to specialization, preference will be given to candidates who can teach in the areas of agricultural accounting, risk management, and/or sustainability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Annual teaching load is 4-4

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help assess the accounting program and propose innovations to meet the demands of the current job market and student interests.
  • Faculty members are expected to remain actively involved in professional development, scholarly research
  • Serve on college committees.
  • Participate in faculty governance (monthly meetings).
  • Supervise undergraduate honors theses & research (as needed).
  • Help in the recruiting process of future/prospective students. 

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

May supervise student workers.

EDUCATION

  • Essential:
    • Applicants must have an advanced degree (MS, PhD, or DBA in Accounting). 
  • Desirable: CPA certification would be a plus, as would teaching experience at the college level.

  • Effective communicator
  • Organized
  • Skilled with Microsoft and electronic mail

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk or sit. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. 

WORK SCHEDULE: Normal academic schedules include classes and labs offered during normal work hours Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00pm. Flexibility in the work schedule is required to accommodate occasional evening and weekend hours, including attendance in December and May Commencements.
