Job Description:
Longwood University invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Director of Assessment (FA050) in the Office of Assessment and Institutional Research. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, the successful candidate will serve as a coordinator and a leader in assessment efforts across campus, both for academic and non-academic programs. The position will begin June 25, 2025.
The responsibilities for the position include:
- Assist faculty, staff, and various leadership teams in establishing assessment plans, interpreting assessment results, and developing action plans to seek improvement
- Monitor progress on strategic initiatives by analyzing policies, procedures, practices, and assessment plans; manage the electronic data collection and assessment report repository system (Watermark); and communicate relevant data to appropriate constituencies about strategic assessment and its practices
- Communicate the results of assessment/evaluation to a wide range of constituencies to promote a useful assessment cycle, including collaboration and communication with vice presidents and college deans about results/cross-divisional opportunities
- Coordinate with the Administrative Assessment Committee and the Professional Educators Council on accreditation and assessment advisement and professional development, including monitoring the systematic review of programs and services in support of the university mission and strategic plan
- Provide leadership by engaging in assessment scholarship with faculty, staff, and/or external professional colleagues as well as by providing collaborative planning with, and professional development to, those with assessment/research/technology staff responsibilities
- Help maintain the integrity of assessment for SCHEV core competencies
- Supervise the Assistant Director of Curriculum Assessment and that role's focus on working with faculty on assessment of academic programs, general education, andWatermark setup/training/communications with faculty/staff and Watermark support
Requirements:
Required:
- Doctoral Degree, or Master's Degree with equivalent training and work experience
- Expertise in assessment, data analysis, and educational outcomes
- Knowledge of state and federal postsecondary education accountability initiatives and trends
- Knowledge of accreditation standards, practices, and goals for postsecondary educations
- Knowledge of institutional self-assessments and student outcomes assessment principles, methods and techniques
- Ability to synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare and present reports effectively
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with members of the university community including faculty and staff
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred:
- Doctoral Degree demonstrating higher education assessment work
- Working experience in conducting assessment in higher education field or other academic settings
- Experience with program evaluation, research design, or project management
- Familiarity with the Watermark system
Additional Information:
