Therefore, we seek applicants who can demonstrate their understanding of justice and who can inspire our increasingly diverse student population.Responsibilities: Implements, directs and guides dispatch services Answers emergency and non-emergency calls for service Monitors video surveillance systems, card access systems, fire and intrusion alarm systems etc. Uses a computer aided dispatch system to enter, research and retrieve information Receives and records information and requests for police/security services in a computerized database Dispatches field personnel according to need and priority of the request for service Transmits and receives radio calls from field units via two-way radio Coordinates and maintains effective communications between field units and outside law enforcement agencies Compiles information from different sources to develop a daily briefing or log which provides information to assist in the daily operations of the agency Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree or higher preferred One to two years' experience in public safety or emergency dispatch communications dispatch preferred Technology Skills: Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Human Relations Skills: Demonstrated ability to remain calm and work well under high pressure in emergency situations Ability to set priorities, take initiative, work efficiently, and work independently Ability to speak concisely and distinctly Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and tact Must be flexible and be able to adapt to changes Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.
