Position Summary:
The position is for either a tenure-track, ten-month appointment at the Assistant Professor rank OR a contract renewable, ten-month appointment at the Lecturer rank in the Department of Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Dietetics within the College of Natural and Health Sciences.
Job Duties:
This position will serve the CAATE Accredited Professional Athletic Training Program, as well as programs in Psychology of Sport, Exercise & Physical Activity, Exercise Physiology, or Biomechanics. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about culturally responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices for engaging racially minoritized students as well as first-generation students, who are historically underrepresented and underserved in traditional classrooms. It is preferred that the candidate have a record of scholarly achievement and/or potential to develop and manage programmatic scholarly efforts and excellent interpersonal communication skills. Responsibilities include: instruction in areas of contemporary expertise in Athletic Training, along with one of the following areas: Psychology of Sport, Exercise & Physical Activity, Exercise Physiology, or Biomechanics; graduate and undergraduate student advisement; service to the discipline, to the University, and to the local community; scholarly activity in areas of Athletic Training, Psychology of Sport, Exercise & Physical Activity, Exercise Physiology, and/or Biomechanics including publication and grant writing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- The contract renewable position requires a master's degree from an accredited university in Athletic Training, Psychology of Sport, Exercise & Physical Activity, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, or a related Kinesiology discipline.
- The tenure track position requires an earned doctorate from an accredited university in Athletic Training, Psychology of Sport, Exercise & Physical Activity, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, or a related Kinesiology discipline. ABD may be considered.
- Additional requirements include ATC credential granted by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer, Inc., or license to practice allopathic or osteopathic medicine in Colorado (or eligible).
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have evidence of the following: teaching experience at a college/university level or experience providing in-service education to physicians/other health care providers; contemporary expertise in kinesiology; contemporary clinical athletic training experience; evidence of potential for an established successful line of scholarly activity including grant writing; experience in mentoring students; evidence of service to the discipline.

About the Department
The Kinesiology, Nutrition and Dietetics (KiND) department is made up of expert faculty and staff in areas of exercise science, human performance, physical education, sports administration, nutrition, and dietetics. Housed within UNC's College of Natural and Health Sciences, KiND is joined by other nationally recognized academic programs, such as nursing and the Colorado School of Public Health. At the undergraduate level, UNC offers a BS in Dietetics; BS in Nutrition; Minor in Nutrition; a Distance Dietetic Program (DDP). At the graduate level, UNC offers an MS in Dietetics; Distance Dietetic Internship; MS in Dietetics with the Distance Dietetic Internship.
