Your Role With Us: 

The advancement and delivery of top-notch, effective healthcare education is at the heart of what we do! Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Health Sciences. We seek an innovative, collaborative, and visionary leader who will advance the college’s mission of excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.

The Dean of the College of Health Sciences reports to and works closely with the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs (EVPAA)/Provost in providing intellectual leadership for professional and post-professional programs housed in the College of Health Sciences. The Dean serves a central role in administration and leadership and collaborates with other members of the University’s administration on assessment, educational policy, strategic planning, budget, and academic issues.

General duties include overseeing programs housed in the College of Health Sciences, including professional (residential) and post-professional programs delivered via hybrid and online formats (most programs are delivered hybrid). The Dean’s major role is to assure academic integrity, viability, and excellence of all University academic programming housed within their college.

Department Chairs and Program Directors report to the Dean and work in collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to promote academic achievement, enhance the quality of programs, and foster a culture of inclusivity and diversity within the College of Health Sciences.

The Dean is a member of the Dean’s Council, and Provost’s Council, University Collaborative Council and is an ex-officio member of the Academic Leadership Council (ALC).

Work Modality: On-campus preferred, hybrid considered.

Salary: From $160,000 - Commensurate with experience and qualifications

About the College of Health Science:

  • The College of Health Science houses residential, hybrid, and online professional and post-professional healthcare programs, including Counseling, Nursing, Physician Assistant (master’s and doctorate), PhD, and Continuing Education. It is our largest college, with approximately 40 full-time faculty and roughly 900 students.

  • Academic Excellence: Promote academic excellence by supporting high-quality teaching, cutting-edge research, and creative scholarship. Ensure the continuous improvement of curriculum and academic programs.
  • Faculty Development: Recruit, retain, and support outstanding faculty. Encourage professional development, mentorship, and research opportunities for faculty members.
  • Student Success: Lead efforts to enhance student recruitment, retention, and success. Foster a supportive learning environment that prepares students for careers and lifelong learning.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the college’s budget, facilities, and personnel. Secure resources through fundraising, grant opportunities, and partnerships with external organizations.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the college. Promote initiatives that create a welcoming and supportive environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
  • External Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with alumni, industry partners, and community stakeholders. Actively participate in fundraising, public relations, and outreach efforts.

Background/Expertise:

  • An earned terminal degree in a discipline relevant to the college preferred.
  • A distinguished record of teaching, research, and service that merits appointment as a full professor preferred, associate professor considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic leadership and administration.
  • Experience with online and hybrid programs.
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation
  • Proven ability to manage resources and personnel effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse academic community.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in securing external funding through grants and partnerships.
  • A record of promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.
  • Experience with accreditation and program assessment processes.
