Position Highlights

The UArizona Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering (AME) is seeking a Marketing and Communications Coordinator. The incumbent in this position will work with AME staff and faculty to develop and coordinate various marketing and communications initiatives, including curating website content, creating social media content, and developing materials and campaigns (print and digital) for student recruitment and alumni outreach. This position works closely and liaises with the College of Engineering Marketing and Communications team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the department's content marketing plan to engage with core constituencies and primary audiences as well as strengthen brand awareness.
  • Work with AME and College faculty and staff to produce written, visual and video content for the AME website, social media, and other marketing materials and venues.
  • Manage AME social media accounts.
  • Ensure published information is relevant, compelling, accurate and consistent.
  • Coordinate all marketing activities (including advertising, promotions, publications, websites, social media, email and direct mail campaigns, etc.). Execute marketing campaigns and events to accomplish set goals or outcomes for AME.
  • Develop and maintain communications processes and protocols and associated documentation for use by team and internal stakeholders. Advise faculty and staff for compliance with marketing and branding guidelines.
  • Maintain records of all marketing and communications activities.
  • Collect and analyze data on the effectiveness of AME marketing campaigns to inform strategy.
  • Assist in identifying positive publicity opportunities through appropriate channels, i.e., UA Communications, College of Engineering MarCom, ASEE First Bell, The Daily Wildcat, Arizona Daily Star, Tech Launch Arizona, etc.
  • Identify/manage/coordinate consultants and freelancers as needed for complementary and supplementary job functions such as photography, videography, graphic design, copy writing and editing.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Skilled in professional communications writing, editing and proofreading, including with SEO and AP styles
  • Ability to use data and metrics to inform marketing and communications strategies
  • Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, YouTube, etc.
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms, constituent relationship management technology, survey tools, and social media management solutions
  • Ability to plan, establish priorities, and managing multiple projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, communications, or related field; or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Experience with the business application of social media platforms and advertising, including Facebook.
  • Experience with graphic design software, e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud.
