The Race, Ethnic and Gender Studies undergraduate program fosters intersectional exploration and understandings of race, ethnicity, class, gender, and sexuality as they relate to social identities. Courses prepare students for dialogue regarding historical and contemporary social dynamics, and for identifying opportunities for constructive future change. The curriculum provides students the necessary tools to build strategies for a variety of projects and initiatives requiring cultural competencies and to make an impact in a range of fields and professions. The program supports undergraduate internships as well as career infusion courses. Job Description
The Department of Race, Ethnic and Gender Studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City seeks to hire an Assistant Teaching Professor with expertise in social identities. Field is open but candidate's degree should be in the humanities. The candidate should prioritize intersectionality in their work and their expertise should both strengthen and expand the focus of the department. Experience with or interest in teaching general education courses in addition to introductory Race, Ethnic and Gender courses and courses in the candidate's area of expertise will be considered a plus. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in their field by the start date and a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education.
This is a full-time, benefit eligible, non-tenure track position that allows for promotion and includes benefits, including retirement, and resources to support innovative teaching.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. by August 1, 2025 is required. 2+ years of teaching at the undergraduate level is an attribute.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience, scholastic achievement, and credentials.
