Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the Center's case management services, including developing and implementing a strategic plan that ensures adherence to the highest clinical and operational standards and provides exceptional mental health services for students. This position will supervise all operations in the absence of the CPS Director.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides direct clinical services to students, including treatment planning, coordination of care, and crisis intervention/on-call coverage and support.
2. Manages staff provision of immediate support, intervention, and re-entry for students in mental health crises, including assessing risk of harm to self or others and utilizing community-based 24/7 crisis intervention services as needed.
3. Supports the involuntary hospitalization process and development of holistic intervention plans for students returning to campus post-psychiatric hospitalization
4. Serves as a liaison between CPS and various community referral sources while maintaining a comprehensive referral network, identifies professional resources in the community for appropriate student referrals, and organizes and implements a system for evaluating referral sources.
5. Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures to ensure adherence to the highest clinical and operational standards, applicable legislation, local health and safety laws and regulations, university and USG policies and procedures, and professional codes of ethics.
6. Manages and maintains the electronic health record (EHR) system, all medical records requests, and confirming accuracy, security, and compliance with healthcare regulations, while ensuring accessibility for students seeking services.
7. Implements and administers quality assurance procedures, including scheduling, staff productivity, departmental assessment and client satisfaction data collection and reporting, and compliance with university policies and procedures.
8. Manages all professional development opportunities, including staff conference travel, workshops, and continuing educational opportunities offered to the campus and community.
9. Identifies, prepares, and submits proposals for federally funded grant research opportunities to support and expand counseling services offerings; manages grant-funded projects while reporting on outcomes and impact on students served.
10. Provides support for divisional priorities and initiatives beyond the scope of the department, as needed

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in clinical/counseling psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy

Other Required Qualifications
Independent licensure (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist), or the ability to become independently licensed in the state of Georgia within 12 months of hire
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license

Required Experience
Seven (7) years of relevant experience in mental health services, with at least three (3) years in administrative roles and providing clinical supervision
May include internship(s)

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Three (3) years of progressive experience and responsibilities for a university counseling center or similar outpatient mental health service
Demonstrated experience in case management, crisis intervention, and referral coordination.
Experience in operations management and staff development
Experience with electronic medical record systems and data analysis
Proven track record of securing and managing federal grants

Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge and experience with mental health issues in higher education.
Familiarity with short-term models of treatment
Knowledge and experience with program development and Implementation
Knowledge of professional, national, and state ethical guidelines
Knowledge and experience with computer-based productivity systems (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Demonstrated experience in personnel management and overseeing departmental resources

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
