Maintenance Supervisor Weekend Shift
Job Description
Reporting to the Manager of Preventative Maintenance, the Maintenance Supervisor provides direction and supervises all activities of assigned trade's personnel to complete preventive and corrective maintenance for building systems/equipment, grounds, housekeeping, and other projects as assigned for completion on a weekend shift. This position ensures the execution of work order assignments in coordination with fellow facilities supervisors and with designated University contacts in order that all projects are completed in a timely, safe and cost-effective manner. Supervisor interacts routinely with building occupants on scheduled and nonscheduled activities to ensure open and effective communications. Completes the required administrative functions regarding work order flow including data entry into Facilities work order system, coordinates procurement and delivery of material to job sites in order that avoidable work delays are prevented, and coordinates daily shift turnover with other facilities leadership so that resources available can be used to meet the most pressing needs. The incumbent will work on Monday's and Friday's in conjunction with the Facilitates Maintenance Shops and come together with other weekend shift employees on Saturday and Sunday for weekend coverage. This is a designated emergency personnel position.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in a lead role or directing the work of other employees.
- Virginia Master licensure in plumbing, electrical; or HVAC.
- Experience in one or more of the following: plumbing, electrical or HVAC.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Will be required to operate a motor vehicle daily
- Familiarity with building trades.
- Working knowledge of all local and state codes that pertain to areas of responsibility.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to read, and understand a variety of technical documents such as blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, specification records, and operating and maintenance manuals.
- Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
- This position is designated as Emergency Personnel. May be required to work additional hours/shifts to meet the needs of the department.
Preferred Qualifications
- Maintenance experience with building systems in a large commercial or institutional setting.
- Experience in a computerized work order/inventory management system.
- Working knowledge of multiple trade specific tasks.
- Previous Supervisory experience.
- Previous experience with housekeeping.
- Previous grounds maintenance experience.
