Job Summary/Basic Function

One tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level in in the Offutt School of Business. The successful candidate will enter a vibrant, student-centered environment and have the opportunity to teach a variety of graduate & undergraduate courses, the equivalent of 10-12 credits per semester at multiple levels, in data analysis & visualization, operations research including specialty, and traditional courses in mathematics, management information system, data science and business statistics. The successful candidate will be involved with curriculum development and design in support of our programs, a Master of Science in Management Science and Quantitative Methods (MSQM) and undergraduate degrees in quantitative business fields, mathematical finance and data science. There is an expectation for summer teaching in our graduate program (for additional compensation) and advising of graduate and undergraduate students. Participation with graduate and undergraduates in research is also expected.Concordia College is a private, co-educational, baccalaureate liberal arts college of approximately 1,900 students and 150 faculty. The college is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and prepares students to become responsible leaders in a global society. It is located in the Moorhead (MN)/Fargo (ND) area, a growing metropolitan area of approximately 250,000, consistently ranked among the nation’s most livable cities. Fargo-Moorhead’s thriving cultural scene is home to a variety of professional arts organizations including its own opera, ballet, and theatre companies, symphony orchestra, film festival, and art museums and galleries.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in mathematics, computer science, data science, statistics, or related field is required.

Demonstrated ability to produce quality scholarship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated evidence of excellence in classroom teaching- A strong commitment for teaching excellence is essential, as is a commitment to graduate and undergraduate quantitative business disciplines and mathematical programs taught within a liberal arts context.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate sympathy with the mission of Concordia College a liberal arts college of the Lutheran Church (ELCA), committed to educating students to influence the affairs of the world.
