Job Summary/Basic Function
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced undergraduate Accounting Instructor to join our Offutt School of Business Faculty. As an Accounting Instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of aspiring accountants and finance and business professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to share your expertise, contribute to the academic growth of students, and foster their success in the field of accounting and taxation.Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver high-quality undergraduate introductory accounting courses, as well as upper-level courses, especially on tax accounting, to students, utilizing effective teaching strategies and methodologies.
- Create and update course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, assignments, and assessments, to ensure relevance and alignment with learning objectives.
- Engage students through interactive and participatory teaching methods, promoting critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and concepts.
- Facilitate classroom discussions, encourage student engagement, and provide constructive feedback on assignments and exams to enhance learning outcomes.
- Mentor and guide students, providing academic support, career advice, and assistance in developing their accounting skills and knowledge.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and changes in accounting regulations, incorporating relevant updates into the curriculum.
- Collaborate with fellow faculty members to enhance the department’s academic programs, share best practices, and contribute to curriculum development initiatives.
- Participate in departmental meetings, faculty committees, and professional development activities to stay informed about institutional policies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and progress reports, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of a master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and expertise in tax accounting, accounting principles, financial reporting, and other relevant areas.
- Prior teaching experience, preferably at the undergraduate level, demonstrating effective instructional techniques and student engagement.
- Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in utilizing technology in the classroom, including learning management systems, accounting software, and other instructional tools.
- Demonstrated commitment to staying current with industry trends and advancements in accounting and tax.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage course materials, assessments, and student records effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and contribute to the department’s academic programs.
