The Department of Public Policy and Administration invites applicants for a full-time, Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor of Public Policy and Administration position. The position begins in August 2025.

The mission of the Department of Public Policy and Administration, part of the College of Business and Public Management, is to provide high-quality, accessible education for a diverse community of emerging and existing public service leaders.  Our faculty and students advance the practice of public administration through community partnerships, academic scholarship, and applied research-spanning the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. Department faculty members balance excellent teaching with active scholarship. The College of Business and Public Management is an AACSB accredited school. The MPA program is accredited by NASPAA.

The faculty position involves teaching graduate level courses that may be offered in in-person, online, and hybrid formats. The typical course load involves teaching nine (9) graduate credits per semester in the MPA and DPA programs. The ideal candidate will use innovative teaching skills and demonstrate strong attention to the learning and teaching needs of the department's students. Their experience, substantive specialization, and pedagogical training will serve to strengthen the department's mission and vision. The faculty will collaborate with other departmental and college faculty & staff to ensure student success.

Responsibilities include:
·    Teach graduate level courses in the Public Policy and Administration program. Additional courses within area(s) of specialization may be assigned based on departmental needs
·    Advise and mentor students
·    Supervise and participate in student dissertation
·    Contribute to the department's maintenance of NASPAA accreditation
·    Engage in scholarly activities such as research, presentations, and publications
·    Demonstrate continuing scholarly growth compatible with the teacher-scholar model
·    Serve the College, University, and the community through participation in various committees.
·    Perform other duties as assigned







Minimum Qualifications




·    A doctorate in Public Administration or directly related field. ABD may be considered - must be completed by August 2025
·    Experience teaching graduate level courses in the Public Administration curriculum
·    Experience advising graduate level research projects and doctoral dissertation
·    Experience teaching college level courses in-person, online, and/or hybrid
·    Record of scholarship and research accomplishments





Preferred Qualifications




·    Experience using quantitative research methods; and/or
·    Experience in public budgeting and finance field; and/or
·    Experience teaching in various modalities, including online synchronous, online asynchronous, and in-person
