Assistant Professor of Nursing
Coe College seeks qualified applicants for a full-time tenure track (TT) appointment in Nursing beginning August 2025.
Faculty Expectations:
Courses taught may include traditional medical surgical adult clinical rotations, general psychomotor skills labs with limited simulation, preceptor clinical supervision, and theory courses. The candidate will see prospective students, actively engage in student advising and serve on all Nursing Department Committees such as the Curriculum Committee and Admissions, Promotions and Retention Committee as well as college-wide committees as assigned. The candidate will maintain specified office hours for students and must be available outside of instructional time to advise and assist students in their course work. The Department strongly values commitment to a student-centered approach and a multicultural perspective in teaching, research, and practice. The candidate will demonstrate strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Candidates who can provide evidence of successful teaching and an interest in mentoring undergraduate students will be strongly preferred. Active professional membership is encouraged and evidence of occasional nursing practice (i.e. summers) preferred.
Teaching requires preparation of course syllabi, course materials appropriate to the modality of delivery, course lectures, discussion topics, and student assignments. Faculty are expected to critically evaluate student work and provide constructive and timely feedback as well as remain current in the teaching and learning best practices in nursing academia and the clinical environment. Faculty are also expected to participate in faculty initiatives to improve instruction through design and revision of the curriculum, creation of new courses (if desired), revision of existing courses, and supervision and support of the scholarship of students.
Required Qualifications:
- Completed MSN degree
- Two years of experience in clinical nursing
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States as visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States as we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed PhD or DNP
- Knowledge and skill using Google Suite
- Evidence of ability to teach fundamental and general adult medical surgical nursing clinical courses and facilitate student learning in adult medical surgical preceptor rotations
- Student-centered teaching methods
- Multicultural perspective in teaching and practice
- Evidence of successful teaching
- Evidence of an interest in pedagogically related mentoring and advising undergraduate students
- Evidence of skill sets for serving on all department committees and college-wide committees
