Position Description

The Gao Lab, part of the Department of Environmental Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, is excited to announce openings for postdoctoral research fellow positions in exposomics and environmental health. Dr. Peng Gao, joining Harvard as a tenure ladder Assistant Professor of Environmental Health and Exposomics in November 2024, invites outstanding candidates to contribute to pioneering research at the intersection of environmental exposures and chronic diseases.

Position Description:

The research focus will be on either:

a) Analyzing exposomics data from large cohort studies to identify environmental risk factors for chronic diseases.

b) Developing and applying single-cell metabolomics and exposomics methods for high-resolution environmental health research.

Research Areas:

Key research areas include longitudinal exposome profiling and association with chronic diseases, precision environmental health and personalized exposure assessment, multi-omics integration, exposome-wide association studies, and the development of novel analytical chemistry and bioinformatics tools for exposomics.

Anticipated start date: February 1, 2025

Basic Qualifications

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health, analytical chemistry, or related fields.

Strong programming skills (R required, Python preferred), expertise in high-resolution mass spectrometry data analysis, and experience with large-scale omics data are essential.

Wet lab experience is highly desirable, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within interdisciplinary teams.
