Job Description
The Assistant Director of Sports Performance will assist the Director of Football Performance in all aspects of sports performance (strength and conditioning, nutrition, etc.). This position will also be responsible for the design and implementation of sports performance programs for the Men's and Women's Track & Field teams at Idaho State University. This coach must have the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population of student athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and administrators. Not only will this coach design sport specific training programs, but they must also be able to effectively coach and demonstrate proper technique for Olympic lifts, traditional strength movements, plyometrics, speed and agility movements, mobility, and rehabilitation exercises. This coach will also be responsible for helping to preserve the health, safety and welfare of ISU student athletes.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching
~ Assist the Director of Football Performance in the planning and implementation of all aspects of sports performance (strength and conditioning, nutrition, etc.)
~ Directly Oversee the planning and implementation of all strength and conditioning workouts for the following sports.
Men' & Women's Track & Field (Indoor/Outdoor)
~ Conduct long range planning for assigned sport teams
~ Ensure the use of best practices and safety protocols for all team workouts
~ Make all necessary workout modifications for athletes based upon the daily injury reports
~ Ensure uniformity with regard to all exercise terminology and teaching progressions.
~ Attend practices and games of assigned teams when possible
Attend ALL home and away games for Football
Olympic Sports Performance staff will assist in covering T&F sessions while away.
Recruiting
~ Assist with any site visits for high school coaches as assigned by Associate A.D. of Sports Performance & Wellness, Director of Football Performance, and/or the Director of Olympic Sports Performance
~ Meet with PSAs and parents of assigned sports during official recruiting visits
~ Assist in the content creation for all "Iron Ambush" social media accounts
Create weekly or bi-weekly videos to highlight sports science, nutrition Q&A, or potential S&C internship opportunities
Administrative
~ Attend community relations engagements as requested by the Associate A.D. of Sports Performance & Wellness, Director of Football Performance, and/or the Director of Olympic Sports Performance to promote ISU Athletics
~ Attend weekly athletic department staff meetings when Associate A.D. of Sports Performance & Wellness, Director of Football Performance, and/or Director of Olympic Sports Performance is unable to
~ Attend ISU Athletic events to support student-athletes, increase visibility of strength staff, meet with donors and promote student-athlete success (as time allows)
~ Serve as internship program liaison
Collaborate on aspects of the internship curriculum as assigned by the Associate A.D. of Sports Performance & Wellness, Director of Football Performance and/or Director of Olympic Sports Performance
Supervise interns, CPI's, and Work Study students
Assist in posting future internship opportunities to the "Iron Ambush" social media pages and other sites (SCJN, MyMomentum, etc..)
Assist in the evaluation of all interns
~ Serve as a nutrition liaison
Communicate with both Associate A.D. of Sports Performance & Wellness, Director of Football Performance, Director of Olympic Sports Performance and Sports Dietician in all areas involving Sports Nutrition
Assist in the coordination of restocking the JASCC fridge
Assist in the coordination of BlackLabel Supplementation inventory
~ Assist the Associate A.D. of Sports Performance & Wellness by serving as liaison to ISU Facilities Department to ensure proper custodial and maintenance care of weight room facility
~ Assist in the annual conducting and review of a departmental risk management plan
~ Assist in the oversight of maintenance of all weight room equipment and make equipment repairs or replacements when necessary
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of two years' experience working in a collegiate strength and conditioning program, including graduate assistant experience.
CPR/AED Certification
Current certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS), or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) as Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC)
Ability to work a flexible schedule. (May include early morning, evening, or weekend hours)
Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, all applicable NCAA, Big Sky conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
Demonstrate the ability to successfully work with both students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in related field
NCAA Division I coaching experience
Experience working with Football and Track & Field
USAW-SPL1, USTFCCA-SCC, and/or other applicable certifications
Additional Information
