Job Description Summary:
This position is for a primary care physician uniquely qualified to provide clinical care including transitional care for adolescents and young adults in the Pediatric ambulatory adolescent clinic and at the school-based health clinics (SBHC) currently in Haysville and Valley Center. Faculty member will participate in development/maintenance of the adolescent medicine, mental and behavioral health, and addiction medicine curricula, will provide education to residents and students, and will provide oversight to advanced practice providers (APRNs/PAs). The pediatric ambulatory clinic is the primary teaching environment for our residents and medical students in adolescent medicine. Faculty member will participate in growing the adolescent section and SBHC program and be an active member of the collaborative care team at these clinics. The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
- MD/DO Degree
- Board eligible or certified in pediatrics with a specific interest in adolescent-related health field (adolescent medicine, sports medicine, addiction medicine, mental health, reproductive health, etc.)
- Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the state of Kansas
Experience:
- Previous experience teaching in an academic setting
- Additional training and/or practice experience in adolescent-related health field (adolescent medicine, sports medicine, addiction medicine, mental health, reproductive health, etc.)
- Completion of REACH Institute mental and behavioral health training courses or similar training
- Interest and/or experience managing patients with disordered eating
- Competence in long-acting reversible contraception provision (i.e. intrauterine devices and subdermal implants)
- Demonstrated proficiency in the teaching of students and residents
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical practice
- Ability to work cooperatively, collegially, and professionally within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Desire and skill set to develop and lead clinical programs
Pediatrics Clinical - 80-90%
- Provide direct patient care for adolescent patients and other patients in the ambulatory clinic environments including school-based health centers
- Equitable participation in call coverage is expected
- Function as an active participant in interprofessional teams
- Opportunity for program development and growth in school-based health care and adolescent medicine
- Opportunity to lead scholarly (research/quality improvement/clinical trials) projects, mentor residents and other learners in scholarly projects, lead applications for external program funding and other grant support
- Serve on selected departmental and hospital committees as requested by the section director, division chief or chair
- Participate in curriculum development for the resident and student ambulatory medicine rotations or electives, assuring that ACGME and LCME standards are met
- Educate, supervise, and participate in the evaluation process of residents, medical students, and other allied health trainees
