Job Summary

Provide basic hands-on technical services and practical application guidance to students and faculty in an engineering research setting. Assist in the routine installation, maintenance, repair, and calibration of mechanical, electrical, or scientific equipment and instrumentation. Participate in the identification of components or materials needed for fabrication, testing, integration, or repairs. Review schematics and drawings to modify equipment and instrumentation to required specifications. Ensure compliance with safety systems and practices to minimize risk of failure in the research and testing environment.  May assist in the design and fabrication of equipment and instrumentation.

Successful candidates in this role will reside in the Perry, IA, area or within a commutable distance. This position is located at an onsite simulation center to support the PG faculty and partnership location staff in simulation and may include evening and weekend hours. This is a part-time position. Hours may be varied but are a maximum of 20 hours per week onsite. This position reports to the Academic Program Head.

What to expect in this role:

  • Simulation Operation and Maintenance:
    • Operate and maintain simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized simulators, audio-video recording systems, and virtual reality procedural trainers with the ability to follow medical aspects of scenarios, and make appropriate adjustments to technology systems.
    • Set up and maintain the simulation lab, classroom and manage lab supplies.
    • Collaborate with vendors for routine maintenance and repair of equipment, including the implementation of hardware or software updates.
    • Assist with daily operations at the simulation center by maintaining regular communication with the manager.
    • Ensure compliance with safety practices to minimize risk in the simulation environment.
  • Faculty & Student Support:
    • Collaborate with clinical faculty during simulations and learning activities.
    • Provide ongoing support of simulation faculty during simulation.
    • Provide appropriate guidance to students in the simulation setting related to professionalism.
    • Act as a standardized patient (actor in the role of a patient) when needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the Nursing curriculum, policies, and requirements.
  • Additional duties as may be assigned by the School.

Experience:

  • Some higher education; Bachelor's degree preferred and/or comparable experience.
  • 0-1 year of experience
  • Interest in healthcare simulation, customer service experience

  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment and surrounding states
  • ? Occasional travel to other Purdue Global simulation centers to assist with operational needs.
  • ? Occasional travel to support professional development opportunities and required training.

Additional Information:

  • This is a Part-Time position. The target rate is $26.00-28.00/hr.
