Position Highlights

The Maricopa Agricultural Center is seeking a growth-minded and innovative Business Manager, Senior (Administrative Operations Professional III), to lead all aspects of financial management and day-to-day operations. This position requires experience in financial management and fund accounting. It is a financial leadership role requiring incumbent to advise unit and division directors on the needs and financial position of the unit with continual reconciliation and analysis of operational costs and recovery. The successful candidate should be highly skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and managing multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced office Attention to detail with the ability to understand the big picture is crucial for success. Duties & Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the MAC Director, incumbent will plan, implement, manage and evaluate annual Zero-Based budget (ZBB) for the Maricopa Agricultural Center (MAC), one of the Arizona Experiment Station (AES) sites. This includes providing annual departmental budgets and a monthly update to departments on spending month-to-date/fiscal-year-to-date. Budget responsibilities include assessing overall facility performance against objectives; gathering, analyzing and interpreting external and internal data to develop reports; collaborating with senior management on financial strategy and planning.
  • Oversees day to day operations of the site including purchasing, HR functions, quarterly budget projections, time coordination, PCard liaison, pre-award grant services, post award management, capital inventory and space management. This includes maintaining relationships with partners/vendors/suppliers.
  • Monitor and reconcile various sub fund type accounts, manage departmental billings and collections, manage college investment, define data and administer changes to University approved rate study.
  • Use Farm Management software and data bases to analyze operations, to initiate invoices for direct billing and cost recovery, and to reconcile expenses while implementing and maintaining internal controls.
  • Manage business office staff in their supportive roles to the unit and to the duties above.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel.
  • General Knowledge of Quickbooks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • This position requires experience in financial management and fund accounting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with UAccess Systems.
  • Experience working in higher education.
