Description

The Lafayette College Division of Inclusion, is committed to supporting historically marginalized students and fostering academic, cultural, social, and social justice engagement opportunities for the entire student body. The Office of Intercultural Development (OID) cultivates a welcoming environment for students from diverse backgrounds, including African American, Asian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latinx, Native/Indigenous, International, and LGBTQ communities. Reporting to the Executive Director of Intercultural Development, the Associate Director of Intercultural Development will assist the Executive Director in development and implementation of a DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) strategy aligned with institutional goals. Building partnerships with campus stakeholders to initiate programs that enhance retention,

Integrate DEI principles into institutional life, and serve the campus as a thought leader in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and advise multicultural and identity student leadership council

  • Assist in the coordination of OID's planning for large-scale events.

  • Assist in organizing diversity and inclusion programs, such as New Student Orientation, Welcome Week and Open House.

  • Develop mentoring and advising relationships with students, supporting cultural and affinity-based student organizations and provide training and guidance.

  • Manage OID's online presence through website and social media.

  • Manage student employees

  • Partner with faculty, staff, and student organizations to enhance cultural competency through workshops and dialogues.

  • Plan and execute dynamic heritage month programs (e.g., Asian Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latinx Heritage, Women's History Month, Black History Month).

  • Collaborate with colleagues on special projects and execute other duties as assigned.

    Policy Development & Compliance:

  • Research and support policy development advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Ensure compliance with DEI-related local, state, and federal regulations.

    Program Development & Data Analysis:

  • Create and assess DEI programs and initiatives.

  • Leverage data to improve DEI initiatives, providing regular reports on metrics and outcomes.

  • Collaborate with the Evaluation Team on climate surveys and other assessments.

    Community Engagement:

  • Foster a culture of belonging through outreach to diverse communities.

  • Build partnerships with external organizations to support DEI efforts on campus.

    Educational Programming:

  • Organize educational workshops and training on DEI for stakeholders, including faculty and students.





    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    Masters in Higher Education, or related field.

    2-5 years of DEI experience including program/department management.

    Demonstrated success in educational program development and student advising.

    Strong background in social justice and identity development theories.

    Proven ability to manage budgets strategically and effectively.

    Proficiency in data analysis and compliance with DEI-related regulations.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Masters in Higher Education with an emphasis in College Student Development, or related fields.

    Familiarity with small, private liberal arts college culture.
