Essential Job Duties:
Faculty members in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at NC State invite applications for multiple tenure-track or tenured faculty positions. Preference will be given to junior-level appointments (Assistant or Associate Professor), though candidates with significant experience may be considered for Full Professor rank. These positions may be affiliated with the College of Engineering's Applied AI initiative and its ongoing growth, as well as with interdisciplinary centers (e.g., CAMAL, Bezos Center) or programs (e.g., Operations Research).
There is potential for hiring in other areas such as supply chain engineering, human systems, sustainability, and emerging fields within ISE, with rank determined by the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Areas of Interest:
Optimization/AI: We are seeking faculty candidates with expertise in optimization and data analytics, including machine learning and artificial intelligence. Candidates should demonstrate a methodological background (e.g., in optimization). It is also desirable if they are applying AI/ML to areas broadly of interest to the department or college. This candidate is likely to be affiliated with the Applied AI initiative of the College of Engineering.
Manufacturing: We are seeking faculty candidates with expertise in Advanced Manufacturing. The research areas of interest include, but are not limited to advanced manufacturing processes, additive manufacturing, smart and digital manufacturing, manufacturing automation, biomanufacturing, micro/nanomanufacturing, materials and manufacturing, etc. The candidate may be affiliated with the Applied AI initiative if relevant.
Stochs: Applications are invited for faculty candidates in stochastics, queueing, reinforcement learning, or artificial intelligence under uncertainty. This candidate may be affiliated with the Applied AI initiative of the College of Engineering.
General research responsibilities for faculty include:
- Engage in original, independent research, and foster interdisciplinary collaborations both within NC State and externally.
- Develop and lead a sponsored research program.
- Contribute to the department's teaching mission, offering both undergraduate and graduate instruction, and supervise graduate student research.
- Contribute to the mission or vision of NC State and support the values of the institution.

Minimum Experience/Education:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or a related area along with appropriate experience by their start date:
- Rank of Assistant Professor - Demonstrated ability and the potential for directing activities in the mutually agreed upon realms of responsibility; ability and willingness to participate in department, college, and university affairs; a doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering or closely-related discipline.
- Rank of Associate Professor - Recognized ability and potential for distinction, and demonstrated ability to direct activities, in the mutually agreed upon realms of responsibility; demonstrated ability and willingness to participate in department, college, and university affairs; a doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering or closely-related discipline.
- Rank of Professor - Distinguished achievement, and demonstrated ability to direct activities, in the mutually agreed upon realms of responsibility; established reputation in the individual's profession; demonstrated ability and willingness to participate in department, college, and university affairs; a doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering or closely-related discipline.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate student education. Successful candidates are expected to establish active externally funded research programs and to achieve excellence in teaching and training at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
