Tuition Plan Consortium (TPC) is a unique, non-profit organization led by hundreds of private colleges and universities across the country all committed to access and affordability. The Consortium sponsors CollegeWell, with expert guidance to help families navigate saving and paying for college, and Private College 529 Plan, a prepaid 529 plan that helps protect against rising college costs by locking in tuition rates at all TPC member institutions. For over 20 years, TPC and its member colleges have helped thousands of families save on the cost of college. 

Position Overview:

The Manager of Customer Engagement plays a pivotal role in advancing our marketing strategy by guiding prospective and current Private College 529 Plan customers through every stage of their journey. This role requires a deep understanding of the customer lifecycle, from awareness to advocacy, and the ability to communicate the value of saving early and often for college. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills to optimize the customer experience and demonstrate the Plan’s value effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Creative Director to design and execute consumer engagement strategies that align with Tuition Plan Consortium's (TPC) goals and objectives.
  • Drive Private College 529 Plan enrollments and account owner contributions by managing timely and targeted email communications, ensuring consistent engagement with both prospective and current customers.
  • Serve as a resource for prospective customers, providing clear, accurate information about Private College 529 Plan and addressing any questions about saving with the Plan.
  • Monitor and analyze the prospective customer pipeline, identifying opportunities to improve the enrollment process and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Develop and deliver engaging content that enhances the account owner experience and demonstrates the unique value of Private College 529 Plan and our member colleges and universities.
  • Conduct customer surveys to gain insights into their needs and preferences, using the data to refine engagement strategies and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the Creative Director to maintain CollegeWell and Private College 529 Plan’s brand style and voice in all external communications. 
  • Maintain the pipeline of CollegeWell and Private College 529 Plan lead lists.
  • Create and manage customer pipeline reports and other relevant data requested by the CMO and Board of Directors.
  • Assist with training sessions to keep Call Center staff updated on the latest developments in CollegeWell and Private College 529 Plan. Work with TPC Board Committees on plans, agendas, and reports (quarterly).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field required. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • At least five years of experience in marketing/customer communications, higher education or college savings required.
  • Experience in managing a strategic communications and marketing program to advance an organization’s mission, goals, and brand.
  • Understanding of private higher education a plus.
  • Familiarity with the financial industry preferred.
  • Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient with Constant Contact or similar software.
  • Be a self-starter, enthusiastic, congenial, and persuasive.
  • Sound analysis skills, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
