Job Description
As BASW Practicum Director and Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminology, the primary purpose of this faculty position is to provide oversight and leadership to the practicum components of the Bachelor of Social Work Program. This pedagogical focus involves recruiting, maintaining, and strengthening field agency relationships in preparation for placing, supervising, and evaluating students in their practicum placements at these local social service agencies, as well as coordinating with the MSW Practicum Director to ensure consistent policies and procedures.
The position will be structured as a 9-month, full-time practicum director and assistant lecturer position during the regular academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) along with some part-time duties during Summer semesters. The instructional workload during Fall and Spring semesters will include teaching field practicum seminars and/or other social work courses during the Fall and Spring semester, depending on program needs; and also providing department, college, and university service, as well as service to the profession and community. During Summer semesters, the part-time workload, supported by an administrative stipend of $2000 that is included in the posted salary range, will be focused on practicum duties and student correspondence, although options for teaching may be available. (Any additional teaching load during the summer will be optional and compensated on a per course basis.)
The ideal candidate for this position will be an enthusiastic and engaged social worker with strong ties to the social work community in the South-East Idaho area. This candidate will be an engaged teacher and will have the ability to incorporate real-world social work practice into their teaching in order to prepare students for success and service in future social work jobs and professional opportunities.
Service is also expected, primarily at the department and community levels but also potentially including responsibilities at the college and university levels. As the Pocatello-based representative of our Social Work programs, this position will involve interfacing with social work agencies in the region and being actively involved in student recruitment efforts as well as managing articulation agreements with local and regional colleges and universities, and potentially also participating in some fundraising activities.
Key Responsibilities
In line with the current CSWE accreditation standards, 25% of this position's workload will be devoted to the administration of student practica and programs. The remaining workload will be distributed between teaching (65%), including field oversight and leadership as described above, and service (10%).

Minimum Qualifications
- MSW from a CSWE accredited program
- At least 2 years post-MSW social work practice experience
- Eligible for licensure as an LMSW in the State of Idaho and required within 6 months of hire
- Ability to teach evening and online courses
- LCSW in the State of Idaho
- 5 years post-MSW social work practice experience
- Experience working with social work students, especially in field settings
- Knowledge of social services state-wide with specific emphasis/emphases in SE Idaho, Boise/Treasure Valley, and/or N. Idaho.
- Familiarity with social work curricula, practice competencies, and the integration of field instruction into social work curricula
- Demonstrated success using interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to build collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders
- Experience working with historically underrepresented communities such as indigenous communities, people of color, LGBTQ2S+, and multiple-identity people
- Success in executing positions with multiple responsibilities and roles
- Ability to contribute to a cooperative workplace environment
- Experience teaching in a postsecondary educational setting
- Strong organizational, managerial, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in organizational planning and evaluation in a social work setting
- Administrative and management experience in a social work setting
- Experience assisting in the development and implementation of educational or training curricula
- Experience with electronic and online information management, including online course management systems (e.g. Moodle or Canvas) and general productivity software such as Google Apps.
