Applications Analyst
Job Description
The Human Resources Applications organization supports, develops, and integrates application software systems and enterprise data used by the Payroll Office and the Division of Human Resources (HR) at Virginia Tech. With a strong focus on technology, efficiency, collaboration, and integration, the Human Resources Applications team provides administrative solutions for Virginia Tech employees.
As an Application Analyst, you will:
* Analyze Human Resources business processes and architect solutions to improve service delivery
* Develop software applications, integrations, and reports that solve business challenges
* Investigate user problems and needs, identify their source, and determine possible solutions
* Prepare detailed program specifications, identify required inputs, coordinate the solution deployment with the user department, and ensure satisfactory results.
* Mentor, guide, and check the work of other technical personnel and perform quality assurance reviews
* Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues
* Work independently with minimal supervision

Required Qualifications
* Master's degree in Information Technology or related field or bachelor's degree with equivalent work experience to a master's degree
* Working experience working with the Boomi integration platform or other low-code/no-code platforms
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze business processes
* Working experience in creating and maintaining customer relationships with a variety of stakeholders
* Excellent at working effectively in a team environment
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences
* Working experience with Relational Database Management Systems and SQL
Preferred Qualifications
* Working experience with cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning Systems
* Working experience with business processes, applications, and integrations supporting Higher Education
* Familiarity with Human Resource Information Systems
* Working experience in deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining integrations leveraging APIs
* Working experience developing web applications that leverage a relational database
* Working knowledge of modern integration design patterns and anti-patterns
* Familiarity with API security best practices.
* Working experience using REST based web services, XML, and JSON
* Demonstrated experience with the software development lifecycle and experience developing and integrating software
