Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned Master of Music in Trombone Performance. Evidence of successful collegiate teaching and professional performing.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctor of Musical Arts Degree preferred. Evidence of successful recruiting, mentoring, and teaching at the collegiate level. Experience guiding creative activity at the graduate level. Creative/scholarly accomplishments demonstrated through national and international performances, master classes, presentations at conferences, recordings, publications, and/or professional leadership. We are especially interested in candidates who will help cultivate the uniquely collaborative atmosphere in our brass program and who can contribute, through their teaching, performing, and service, to the excellence of the academic community, and who will work to build relationships with other departments within the College and the University.

Description:

The School of Music in the Weitzenhoffer College of Fine Arts at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Trombone with a starting date of August 16, 2025. The ideal candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate applied trombone, hold a weekly studio class, coach chamber music, collaborate with OU School of Music faculty, engage in effective recruiting activities, maintain an international, national, and regional teaching and performing outreach schedule, and serve on various committees as assigned by the Director of the OU School of Music. The ideal candidate will also have performing experience in multiple genres of music, ranging from standard orchestral and wind band repertoire, jazz repertoire, and contemporary music
