Assistant Professor or Above, Physical Therapy, Tenure Track
The Arcadia University Department of Physical Therapy is currently recruiting for 2 full time, 9-month tenure-track faculty positions. The department offers an entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree with both residential and hybrid pathways, a dual degree with public health (DPT/MPH), and multiple post-professional DPT programs including Orthopedic and Sports Residencies, a PhD in Movement Science, and a MS in Rehabilitation Science. We are ranked among the top physical therapy programs in the country.
Arcadia University is located in Glenside, PA, just 25 minutes from Center City Philadelphia on a 60-acre suburban campus. Founded as Beaver College in 1853, Arcadia University is now a comprehensive university serving more than 3,100 students. The Department of Physical Therapy has strong and long-standing ties to major medical centers in the Philadelphia area. The program is one of three within the College of Health Sciences, which also includes Public Health and Physician Assistant programs. The Department of Physical Therapy is housed in the Health Sciences Center, a state-of-the-art facility located next door to the national landmark - Grey Towers Castle. The facilities consist of modern teaching labs and classrooms, seminar rooms, research labs, student lounge, a Pro Bono Physical Therapy clinic, faculty/staff offices, and a clinical practice operated by Good Shepherd Penn Partners.

Qualifications: Physical therapists or rehabilitation scientists with academic doctorates and well-conceived research agendas are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with neuroscience expertise or with research agendas in any area judged to be synergistic with current faculty interests and potential for securing extramural funding. Capacity and interest in mentoring PhD students also preferred. Capable, effective teaching in areas of content expertise is expected and occurs within a highly integrated curriculum. The faculty is committed to working in a collegial environment that values scholarship and professional service. Physical therapist applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania. Salary, rank, and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The positions will remain open until filled.
The entry-level curriculum is highly integrative with specific content presented in 3-week modules organized around a case example or focus area. The curriculum is designed to move from simple to complex and to allow for repetition of concepts with increasing depth of knowledge. Thus, teaching responsibilities will be tailored to the clinical expertise of the candidate and the needs of the curriculum. The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in ongoing curriculum implementation and evaluation, serve on university-wide committees, advise students, and maintain an active research agenda.
