As part of the Learning Design & Training Services team the Learning Designer (LD) is responsible for designing, implementing, and consulting on applications and technology devices that support the advancement of teaching and learning at the Harvard Business School. They assist faculty and staff with developing sound pedagogical strategies for developing and utilizing technologies in and across the curriculum for virtual, hybrid, and in-person delivery. The LD assists in the production and delivery of training materials and end-user documentation on how to appropriately use technology solutions for both academic and administrative uses. Additionally, the LD will manage the delivery of sessions within the HBS Live Online Classrooms, our one-of-a-kind virtual classrooms that combine the case method, educational technology, and live, studio-based video production.
The ideal candidate is an energetic, quick learner who possesses an adaptable mindset to work as a part of a growing team in the shifting landscape of higher education. They have working knowledge of the in-person, virtual, and hybrid convening spaces, and specialized knowledge of 1-2 specific applications. They have excellent interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work with and collaborate with faculty and staff. They have experience in client support, troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving, and the ability to communicate technical details to non-technical end users. They possess the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

This position is approved as a term appointment with an end date of 6/30/2025. There is a possibility of renewal/extension.
This role is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA-based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite at least three days per week and for departments to provide onsite coverage Monday - Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.
We may conduct candidate interviews virtually (phone and/or via Zoom) and/or in-person for this role.

Responsibilities:
- Consult with faculty and staff on how HBS IT-supported technologies can be used to meet business needs which can be delivered in a number of different modalities (virtual, hybrid, in-person)
- Design and create end-user documentation including eLearning, guides, and videos
- Develop and deliver individual and group instruction with sensitivity to differing learning styles
- Evaluate new technologies and their ability to meet HBS community needs
- Manage the delivery of sessions in the HBS Live Online Classrooms and coordinating with technical and production roles to ensure coordination across functions
- Serve as the primary point-of-contact for faculty members during HBS Live Online Classroom sessions, coordinating on teaching plans and consulting on the use of tools and features
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned
- Minimum of two years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience
The following are preferred:
- Working knowledge of the in-person/virtual/hybrid convening spaces
- Demonstrated abilities in client support, troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving
- Highly specialized knowledge of at least 1-2 specific applications
- Ability to lead instructor-led trainings
- Ability to create engaging training material to be delivered in different modalities
