Position Highlights
Arizona Institute for Resilience is in search of a Specialist, Research Evaluation. This position will support development of an evaluation framework and set of indicators to document and assess the effectiveness of climate change adaptation strategies in Arizona and New Mexico, using qualitative research methods and a community-based approach. Specifically, this position will contribute to research design, literature review, data collection and analysis, and production of project outputs, including an online guidebook, assessment tool, peer-reviewed publication, and presentations. The position will also provide evaluation support for the Climate Assessment for the Southwest program.

Duties & Responsibilities
Duties & responsibilities:
* Coordinate and conduct surveys, interviews, and focus groups with community-based organizations, government agencies, and adaptation professionals in Arizona and New Mexico. Contribute to development of research protocol.
* Manage data entry and database maintenance. Contribute to qualitative data analysis and coding.
* Contribute to project outputs, including an online guidebook, online assessment tool, peer-reviewed publication, and presentations for academic and public audiences.
* Conduct a literature review on current theory, research, and practice related to transformative and community-based adaptation.
* Support CLIMAS program evaluation efforts by documenting and analyzing project progress, outcomes, and impacts. Help manage CLIMAS project and engagement database.
* Additional duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
* Strong written and oral communication for academic and public audiences
* High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
* Skill in using and designing relational databases
* Skill in qualitative research design, analysis, and data visualization
* Ability to conduct surveys, focus groups, and semi-structured interviews
* Knowledge of project or program evaluation, use of theories of change and action logic models
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Anthropology, Geography, Sociology, Environmental Science, Public Health or related discipline and a minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Anthropology, Geography, Sociology, Environmental Science, Public Health, or related discipline.
- Expert experience in qualitative data collection and analysis software.
- Experience conducting program and project evaluation.
- Experience developing digital educational and outreach materials.
- Experience writing stakeholder reports and peer-reviewed journal articles.
- Experience working with a variety of community-based partners in rural and urban contexts, including non-profit organizations, businesses, government representatives, Indigenous communities, and residents.
