Essential Functions:
- Assists in the maintenance or repair of HVAC equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, energy recovery heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and similar equipment.
- Lubricates and packs bearings in heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air-conditioning motors, pumps, fans, and other equipment.
- Changes filter media, adjusts and replace belts, clean traps and strainers.
- Inspects machinery in operation to assure proper functioning, including checking pressures and temperatures.
- Assists in troubleshooting and maintenance off fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets and other equipment as necessary.
- Responds in a timely manner to work orders and maintains related records concerning time, labor and materials; maintains log of tasks performed and writes reports as required.
- Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
- Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
- Supports campus-wide activities in the areas of event setups, snow and ice removal, and any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Two years of experience in HVAC or a combination of experience and education from which a similar skillset would be obtained.
- Must be willing to receive additional training as required.
- Required to respond to emergencies within 30 minutes.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written directions and provide responses in writing.
- Ability to use computers to read and respond to emails and to use basic applications is also required.
- This position requires the possession and maintenance of a valid Virginia vehicle operator's license and a good driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- A minimum of 3- 5 years of experience in residential and commercial refrigeration, HVAC and plumbing or a combination of experience and education from which a similar skillset would be obtained.
- Journeyman or master's certification in HVAC is preferred.
- Must be willing to receive additional training as required.
- Required to respond to emergencies within 30 minutes.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written directions and provide responses in writing.

- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
- The worker frequently is in close quarters, crawl spaces, shafts, man holes, small enclosed rooms, small sewage and water line pipes, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia.
