Position Description
Draws blood from patients in correctional hospital facility for analysis or other medical purposes.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Conduct phlebotomy services for patients with lab orders from a medical provider or authorized clinician.
  • Effectively manage the collection, storage, and transport of lab samples and specimens to ensure successful testing.
  • Timely, concisely, and appropriately document activities in patients' records and other health information systems as required.
  • Coordinate and/or order required lab supplies according to departmental guidance and standards.
  • Ensure equipment is functional and safe; immediately report any sub-optimal operation of lab equipment and/or technology and follow departmental standards for reporting.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • License/Certification from a minimum six week phlebotomy Certificate Program.
  • Experience in laboratory methods, terminology and procedures related to assigned area,
  • Experience calibrating, maintaining and repairing laboratory equipment.
  • Experience using health information technology systems (electronic health records, lab interfaces).

Pay Statement
