Major/Essential Functions
- Conduct phlebotomy services for patients with lab orders from a medical provider or authorized clinician.
- Effectively manage the collection, storage, and transport of lab samples and specimens to ensure successful testing.
- Timely, concisely, and appropriately document activities in patients' records and other health information systems as required.
- Coordinate and/or order required lab supplies according to departmental guidance and standards.
- Ensure equipment is functional and safe; immediately report any sub-optimal operation of lab equipment and/or technology and follow departmental standards for reporting.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- License/Certification from a minimum six week phlebotomy Certificate Program.
- Experience in laboratory methods, terminology and procedures related to assigned area,
- Experience calibrating, maintaining and repairing laboratory equipment.
- Experience using health information technology systems (electronic health records, lab interfaces).
